Juan Diego Martinez is an industrial designer with a background in electrical engineering and technical project management, working at the intersection of precision, material, and natural form.
His practice explores the tension between structured systems and organic expression, investigating how repeatable manufacturing processes can integrate moments of controlled imperfection. He is interested in how clarity and variation can coexist within the same production framework — allowing objects to retain rigor while embracing tactility and character.
With hands-on experience in automation, fabrication systems, and cross-functional product development, he approaches design with technical discipline and sensitivity to material behavior.
Currently pursuing an MFA in Industrial Design at Parsons, Juan is drawn to jewelry, ceramics, and furniture — disciplines where proportion, detail, and material integrity define lasting value. His work considers how contemporary manufacturing can produce sculptural, enduring forms without losing human presence.
